Disposable containers on either the Comal or Guadalupe River will soon be a thing of the past, since New Braunfels city council voted to ban them beginning next year.
The regular city council meeting Monday was quite possibly the most controversial one the city has ever seen. With such a large attendance the meeting wasn’t scheduled at council chambers, but rather the convention center.
One by one people opposed to banning disposable containers gave their reasoning. Many said it would hurt the local economy, impede on their rights and cause a more dangerous issue of dehydration by eliminating plastic water bottles.
